Aida Linda Harris, 80, of Buhl, passed away October 5, 2024. She was born on October 14,1943, in Loma Linda, California, to Lindle and Vera Martindale. She was an only child and grew up in Highland, California. She has fond memories of going to work with her dad when she was a little girl. Her dad was an orange grove farmer and she spent many days in the orchards.
Aida met Ernest “Bud” Harris and they married February 18, 1967. They resided in Bloomington, California, and had three daughters; Linda, Karen and Christie. As a family they traveled to various fairs showing market steers, lambs, and breeding ewes. She was the lady that always had her camera out taking pictures of every show. She was an amazing 4-H & FFA mother to her own children, but others as well.
While raising kids and animals in Bloomington, mom was a booking officer for the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office. One day some family friends, Jim & Rosie Pierce, invited mom & dad to come check out Buhl. They loved the area so much that they packed up the family and moved to Buhl, Idaho, in May 1989. Of course, mom had to have her sheep come too. By August of 1989 Rosie Pierce and mom had us showing sheep at the Western Idaho State Fair. Her and dad worked hard to build up their own Angus/Hereford herd on their property south of Buhl.
Some might remember our mother as a cashier for Shopko. She started working for Shopko in 1989 and worked there until the store closed permanently. She also held down a second job in Buhl at R & B Grocery. There she was able to visit with the locals and work alongside her youngest daughter, Christie, through Christie’s high school years. She loved people and was one of the sweetest people you would ever meet. She never spoke ill about anyone. She worried about anyone and everyone. She enjoyed watching football and cheering on her family members favorite teams.
Aida is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bud Harris; children, Linda (Ted) Harris, Karen (Shane) Johnson, Christie (James) Evans; 6 grandchildren, Brittnee Wall, Brianna Paetzold, Ashley Harris, Bryce Johnson, and Kelsee & Josee Evans; and 4 great-grandchildren, Caleb & Liem Wall, Sutton and Zephyr Paetzold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lindle & Vera Martindale; her in-laws; and sisters in law.
The family extends a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Bennett Hills Rehabilitation & Care Center.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday October 11, 2024, at the West End Cemetery, 1574 East 4150 North Buhl, Idaho, with Jake Evans officiating.
