Alice Henslee

September 15, 1917 — February 7, 2017

Hagerman-Alice Amelia (Vader) Henslee, 99, a resident of Hagerman, Idaho, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Hagerman, of natural causes.
Alice was born on September 15, 1917 in Hagerman, Idaho at the Carey House. She is the daughter of the late Roy & Ona Vader. Alice attended elementary schools in Hagerman and Riverdale (Buhl) and then returned to finish high school at Hagerman High. She graduated from Hagerman High School in 1935. Alice grew up along the Snake River with her older sister Louise on the family ranch where they enjoyed catching crawfish for the local fishermen.
On October 12, 1939 she married Frank Henslee. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary October 12, 1989. They were later sealed together for time and eternity. Alice has always been loved by everyone because of her sweet and kind demeanor. She was an active member of the LDS church where she served faithfully in her callings. Alice was also a member of the Rebekah's Lodge and the Lion's Club and enjoyed serving her community.
She found joy in watching her grandchildren grow up and play sports and was always there watching their games. Every member of the Hagerman community could always find Alice and Frank at every game in their "special seats." Her great-grandchildren brought her great joy and happiness. Frank and Alice spent their summers at the family cabin at Smiley Creek taking care of the ranch and enjoying the outdoors. Some of the family's fondest memories were those made while spending time at the cabin. She enjoyed teaching the grandchildren how to play checkers and baking them her famous chocolate chip cookies. You always knew that her special cookie jar would be full of freshly baked cookies. She delighted in crocheting for those she loved. Alice looked forward to the annual family reunion where she could reconnect with her distant relatives.
Alice was a long-time resident of Stonebridge Assisted Living in Hagerman. She was loved by the staff and residents. The family would like to express their thanks for the loving care Alice received. Alice will be greatly missed by all of her family, friends, and caretakers. We have all been truly blessed to have such a great Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, and friend. Our lives will be forever touched by her great influence and presence.
Alice is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Henslee of Hagerman, sister-in-law Jeannie (Perry) Hansen of Florida, grandsons, Mike (Lisa) Henslee, and Mark (Brenda) Henslee of Hagerman, and granddaughters, Mary (Jason) Warr of Meridian, Melissa (Scott) Draper of Burley, Mecale (Jeff) Dunn of Meridian, and Mindy (Mark) Comstock of Hagerman; 10 great-granddaughters (and spouse), 8 great-grandsons, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Ona Vader, her sister, Louise Bevins, her husband, Frank Henslee, her son, Jim Henslee, and great-grandson, Brady Henslee.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Hagerman LDS church. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Hagerman Cemetery.
