Allan “Al” “Butch” Harmon Fisher, 78, of Buhl, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the Twin Falls Care Center, due to health reasons, with his wife Mary at his side.
Allan was born in Van Buren, Arkansas to Emma Gochourn Fisher and Roy Dee Fisher, and grew up in Burley, Idaho. He had lots of adventures with his brothers, Dee and C.J., along with his cousins and uncles, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed going to the mountains with family and friends.
In the fall of 1965, Allan was drafted into the United States Army. He served six months in Germany as a driver for his Captain, spent one year in Vietnam, and was discharged in 1967.
In the Spring of 1968, Allan met Mary Funke while trying to have a drag race with her down Overland Ave in Burley. He had a souped-up GTX, and she drove a 1958 Pontiac Coupe. He was laughing so hard that she almost beat him. They were married on July 3, 1968, and spent 55 wonderful years together.
Allan attended CSI and received an associate degree in refrigeration and air conditioning. He worked at several potato plants in the Burley and Heyburn areas. Before retiring, he also did maintenance and electrical repair at the Cassia Hospital for five years. After retiring, they moved to Salmon, Idaho to go into business for themselves, and while in Salmon he learned a lot about rocks and gems. Allan helped start a rock club in the area and took several trips to Arizona for rock shows, gaining more education on lapidary and rock polishing. In 2003, they became snowbirds to Arizona for more rock adventures. He did a lot of rock hunting and trading.
Allan was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Funke) Fisher; his sons, Joseph and Robert; five grandchildren, Rhett, Aspen, Anthony, Natiali, and Aurora; three great-grandchildren, Eve, Ella, and Ezekial; and his two brothers, Dee and C.J.
