Charlotte Westby, 98, of Buhl, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at Woodland Assisted Living in Buhl.
Charlotte Marie Cagle was born May 1, 1916 in Monroe County, Tennessee. She was the first of four children, and the only girl born to Frank M. and Sadie Mae Crowder Cagle. She and her parents came to Idaho by train in 1918. She graduated Buhl High School in 1935 and then worked for Farmers National Bank and Idaho First National Bank. On November 2, 1945, in Elko, Nevada, she married H. Norris Westby after he was discharged from the Army, following World War II. They had one daughter, Linda. They worked together in their grocery store, Westby's Market, for 20 plus years. Norris preceded Charlotte in death on March 25, 1970. She was a widow for 44 years.
Charlotte was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Buhl, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and Ella Club. She loved working in her yard and raising her beautiful roses. She arranged bouquets of flowers for friends and family. She enjoyed numerous crafts and made holiday decorations for her home.
She helped raise her two grandsons, Scott and Jamie Webster, with lots of love and patience. She supported them in all of their school projects and sporting events.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Norris; her parents; her brothers, Harry and Carl.
She is survived by her brother, Ken Cagle of Prineville, Oregon; her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Swanson of Buhl; grandsons, Scott Webster of Buhl and Jamie Webster of Kuna, Idaho and three great-granddaughters, Kylee, Olivia and Isabelle.
She will be greatly missed by us all.
We want to thank the staff at Woodland for their kind and loving care for the past four years. They treated her with respect and concern.
