Colleen Ruhter Obituary
Colleen Ruhter's work here on Earth has finished and she has gone home to the arms of her Lord on November 16, 2016. She passed away surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Smithfield, Utah on March 29, 1931 to George and Laura (Eggleston) Sheen. She grew up in Utah, Idaho, and Nevada.
She married Clifford Greear October 16, 1949, in Nevada where they lived and worked on a ranch. They were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Jayna Marie Greear on June 19, 1962. Jayna was Colleen's pride and joy. After 16 years of marriage Colleen and Clifford divorced in 1965.
Colleen and Jayna moved to Wells, NV spent some time living with Colleen's parents. Colleen married Lewis Goodwin on June 20, 1966. They moved to Idaho where they bought a farm in Castleford. Colleen spent her time as a homemaker, where she enjoyed being a mother, sewing, gardening and joined Petal Pals Flower Club. Lewis was the love of her life and they spent many happy years together. Lewis passed away March of 1984.
Colleen moved to Buhl, Idaho. She took time to enjoy her family, especially her grandchildren. She continued to grow beautiful flowers and continued to be active in her flower club. She enjoyed visiting friends, listening to country music and traveling.
Colleen married Virgil Ruhter January 8, 1989. Together they enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, country music, and cowboy poetry. They were also active in their church. She was left a widow when Virgil passed unexpectedly on September 19, 1992.
Colleen never remarried. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren became her joy in life and kept her going. She continued to grow flowers to the end, orchids being her favorite.
Colleen is survived by her daughter, Jayna (Dan) Voorhees; sister, Beverly (Don) Neff; grandchildren, Erica (Chris) Rupp, Brenda (Eli) Fiscus, Claudette (Owen) Shriver, Harwood Goodwin. She also has many great grandchildren.
Colleenis preceded in death by her husbands Lewis Goodwin, and Virgil Ruhter, one step daughter Mary Greear, one grandson Lee Voorhees, her parents George and Laura Sheen, two sisters Joyce Smiley, and Laura Skaggs, and one brother Melvin Sheen.
Services will be held at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl at 11:00AM Wednesday, November 23, 2016. There will be a viewing one hour prior to services.
The family would like to thank Visions Home Health and Hospice, St Luke's ER and St. Luke's 3rd and 4th floor staff for the excellent care they all provided.
