Dale Emerson Boyer, 80, of Hagerman., passed away on July 8, 2014 at St. Lukes Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho after a very long and courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; two older brothers, Bunny (Myrtle) Boyer of Hagerman, Russell (Doris) Boyer of Hagerman; sister, Donna Lou LaVoie of Coeur d'Alene and most recently, his wife, Elaine Marie Boyer. He is survived by his sister, Fern Schaffer of Boise; three children, many grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Dale was born at the Maternity Home in Twin Falls, Idaho on April 4, 1934 to Emerson George Boyer and Ethel Penfold Boyer. Dale lived his entire life in Hagerman except while serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in France for two years, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He leaves behind many good friends made throughout his life, including Everett Miller, Pinky Vader and Ann Barnes. Everyone who knew him has at least one good story to tell.

As a young man, Dale continued the family tradition of growing watermelons. He was like his father before him - he raised the best watermelons in the country. He was known as the Watermelon King or the Melon Man. Merchants were always excited to see the big green watermelon truck come to town.

Dale married Elaine, the love of his life, on November 27, 1970. He was blessed with a ready made family thanks to Elaine have three young children at home. Stephanie, Donnie and Maggie looked to him for guidance to his dying day.

When Dale found Elaine, he also found a partner for the melon business. They ventured in raising cattle, fish, and pumpkins. Dale was one of the first fish farmers in the Hagerman Valley. Dale liked fishing and camping when he could tear himself away from the commitments of the farm.
