Diane Clemens

December 20, 1950 — April 12, 2022

BUHL

Wife, mother, teacher, volunteer, and artist, Diane Clemens, was called home April 12, 2022, surrounded by family in the comfort of her home.

Diane was born December 20, 1950 to Ervin and Velma Pickrel in Caldwell, Idaho. She was the eldest of three siblings followed by Gary and Gail. Diane grew up in the small town of Notus, Idaho, where she attended school and helped her father on the farm.

Diane then attended the College of Idaho in Caldwell. There she received her teaching degree

and met her husband, Eugene Clemens. Gene and Diane were married in 1973 and began their life together in Caldwell and teaching careers in Middleton. In 1976 they welcomed their first daughter, Kapla. In 1979 they relocated to Buhl and welcomed their second daughter, Michelle. Their third daughter, Shawna, joined the family in 1982.

Diane taught 6th and 5th grades in the Buhl School District where she retired in 2006. Diane

loved teaching. She spent so much time creating the perfect themed room with bulletin boards, name tags and sharing her love of knowledge. Diane especially loved to bring out the creative side of her students with art projects, science projects and the 5th grade musical. In 1989, Diane discovered her love and passion of volunteering with the Buhl QRU, where she served the community for 33 years. She was active in a variety of fundraisers for the department.

Diane loved spending time with family and friends. She wanted to make sure everyone was

welcomed. She spent time with fellow retired teachers at coffee, birthday club and golfing.

After her retirement from teaching, Diane spent a good portion of her time keeping her hands

busy with the Decorative Artists. She loved to paint with acrylics and sew quilts.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Velma; and an infant brother, Dennis.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Clemens; daughters, Kapla (Todd) West, Michelle (Erick) Rogers, and Shawna (Tim) Athearn; grandsons, Max, William and Jace; granddaughter, Haley; brother, Gary (Lois) Pickrel; sister, Gail Dion; as well as nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buhl Quick Response Unit or the Buhl
