Earl Warren Traxler, 77, of Buhl, died, Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Earl was a loving husband, father, and always the life of the party. Earl was born to Harold and Marjorie (Westgarth) Traxler on April 5, 1947, in Sacramento, California. In 1961, Earl’s family moved to Buhl, Idaho, where Earl attended high school. Following high school, Earl attended the University of Idaho. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Business in 1971.
On March 15, 1975, after three short months of dating, Earl married the love of his life Catherine (Cathy) Anne Tracy. Together, Earl and Cathy welcomed three sons, Patrick Kelly, Bradley Earl, and Scott Charles. Earl began his professional career as Assistant Manager at Farmers Bank, later he left banking to work as a Fieldman for Delmonte Foods and eventually, in 1984, Earl took over operations of his family’s business, Traxler Land Leveling, until the dissolution of the business in 2004. Earl then worked as a truck driver for Clear Springs Foods. In 2011, Earl and his son Brad partnered in ownership and operations of Traxler Transport until his retirement in 2016.
Earl was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Buhl and a Third- and Fourth-Degree member of The Knights of Columbus. Earl served in the church with his Father Harold Traxler, and his good friend, Tony Avelar. These three men will be forever remembered for their efforts to prepare and serve large dinners that raised funds to benefit the church, Portuguese community, and The Knights of Columbus philanthropic projects. Earl loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and his smoked turkeys were a culinary masterpiece. In 1998, Earl, Cathy, and the boys built the Traxler Family Cabin in Idaho’s pristine Sawtooth Mountains. In the decades to follow, the cabin became a cherished haven for their large extended family and many beloved friends. Earl loved spending time at the cabin. His magnetic personality and humor created an environment where laughter echoed, and memories were woven. The family’s annual corn beef dinner, a tribute Earl began in remembrance of his Father, was the highlight of Earl’s summer. If you ever had the privilege to be invited to Earl’s cabin, you may not remember his jokes, but you will remember Earl’s raccoon.
Earl is loved and missed by his wife of nearly 50 years, Cathy; sons, Pat (Stacy) of Lebanon, OR, Brad of Buhl, and Scott of Aurora, CO; two brothers, Jim (Carol) and Fred; three sisters, Cindy (Alan) Shaber, Edith Adevai, and Ethel Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.
A Vigil will be held at 7:30 pm, Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1701 Poplar St, Buhl. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, March 14, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will conclude at the West End Cemetery.
