Edward Montgomery Sr.

Edward "Gene" Eugene Montgomery, 81, of Buhl, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013.

Gene was born on November 1, 1931, in Springdale, Arkansas to William Lon and Lula Mae (Hearn) Montgomery. Gene was the younger of two boys. His older brother was Clifford James Montgomery. Gene was two years old when his family moved from Arkansas to Castleford, Idaho. It was there that he attended school and graduated in 1950.

Gene married his devoted companion Imogene Roberts of Buhl on February 23, 1951 in Buhl, Idaho. They were married 62 years and were blessed with seven children, three daughters and four sons. They raised their family in Buhl.

Gene's career's consisted of the County and City Police Dept., Pet Milk Company, Beneficial Life, and his own Insurance business. Gene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served in Ward and Stake callings. Gene and Imogene also served in the Boise Temple for three years. In Dad's service to the Lord, he never knew a stranger and helping others gave him great joy.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clifford, and his granddaughter, Kimi Mietzner.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl Imogene Montgomery; daughters, Connie Montgomery, Kalynn (Bart) Butterfield, Toni (Charlie) Scanlon; sons, Lon (Becky) Montgomery, Laytn (Leanne) Montgomery, Gene (Kaylin) Montgomery Jr., and Chad (Gretchen) Montgomery; 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Our family loves him very much and we all know how much Dad loves us.

Services for Gene will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 8, 2013 in the First Ward Main Street LDS Chapel, 501 Main Street Buhl. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 9:45 to 10:45 am, prior to the service. Services will conclude with the burial at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. Funeral Services are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl.
