Ethelyn Casteren

Ethelyn Van Casteren, 84, of Buhl, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, December 1, 2013 at the Twin Falls Care Center.

Ethelyn was born July 24, 1929 to Gordon and Vernette Beatty in Fullerton, California. She married Frank Van Casteren, a farmer on the Irvine Ranch, on November 18, 1948.

In 1965, Frank and Ethelyn purchased a farm and moved with their four children to Castleford, Idaho where they farmed for many years.

Ethelyn had many hobbies, including sewing, cake decorating, gardening, bowling, golfing, knitting and playing cards. Ethelyn loved music and enjoyed playing the organ.

Ethelyn is survived by her sister, Donnette (Roy) Flood and her four children and their spouses: Jerry (Raelyn) Van Casteren, Jacque (Ken) Behler, Jim (Debbie) Van Casteren, Janice (Tim) Hampton. Ethelyn had 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in passing are her loving husband, Frank, a grandson, Adam, and a great-granddaughter, Jayme.

A viewing will be 5-7 p.m. Thurs. Dec. 5 at Farmer Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Thurs. at Farmer Funeral Chapel. A funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the West End Cemetery in Buhl.
