Gene Vern Bliss
May 6, 1961 ~ March 31, 2020
Loving son, grandson, husband, father, and grandfather left us on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 from complications of his diabetes. He was a fun and loving soul who loved his family and friends. He would do anything for them when he was able. Gene’s life was a whirl wind of mechanics and motorcycles. He spent 30 plus years as an ASC Certified Master Mechanic. Besides his love for his wife, Theresa “Terry” Newberry, his other love was his 1978 Honda Goldwing, which he completely rebuilt from the frame up.
Aa a father he became a wonderful listener for his adult children and a role model. He went to college to get not only one but two associates degrees, one in economics, and one in accounting.
Life and living weren’t always easy for him, as he was a type 1 diabetic, which in itself was barely manageable. But he packed in as many memories as he could with the time he had with us. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and endless dad jokes. Gene will be greatly missed and oh so loved.
Gene is survived by his first true love and best friend of 39 years, Theresa “Terry” Newberry; children, Kevin, Larrisa, Tesha, and Demi; step kids, Beth, Nina, Casey, and Amanda; 23 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Gene’s life held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Buhl City Park for a farewell party. Bring a dish as it’s a potluck, and we will furnish the meat. Please bring your own drinks and seating.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Gene’s memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
