George Aufdenkamp

April 13, 1926 — July 7, 2015

George William Aufdenkamp, 89 peacefully entered into rest at his home on July 7, 2015. George was born April 13, 1926.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joanna of 68 years. Children Catherine Woods (Lyle) of Buhl, Susan Fekkers of Georgia, and from California Sandra Aufdenkamp, George Aufdenkamp Jr., (Debbie) and Mary Dee Smalley (Galen). He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Tammy Dias, Carla Henderson, Ryan Pritchard, Bill Fekkers, Joseph Wirsing, Bobby Wirsing, Quinton Wirsing, Jamie Rowsey, Tina Tavares, Brian Aufdenkamp, Tracy Titsworth, and Steven Smalley. He was also blessed with 24 Great Grandchildren.

George also leaves behind his younger brothers Paul Aufdenkamp, (Carol) of Boise and sister Shirley Myers (Louis) of Nebraska. He was proceeded in death by his parents Sophie (Harms) and Paul Aufdenkamp.

George proudly served in World War II and in the Korean War. In 2012 he was invited to attend the Inaugural Honor Flight of Idaho which consisted of 3 day trip to Washington D.C. to honor our World War 11 Veterans.

George and Joanne were married in California, April 26, 1947. This is where Cathe and Sandy were born. He worked for the Continental Bakery. They relocated to Twin Falls where Susie, George Jr., and Mary Dee were born and he work for Herrets Gunstocks.

In 1958 they moved to Arizona where George became a Manager for Kerona Plastics and that job took him to California where they finished raising there family. George eventually retired from the US Postal Service in 1981. He also served as a reserve for the Manteca Police Department in 1966.

After retiring he and Joanna moved to Buhl where he was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and was an active board member in the Senior Citizens Center.

George was committed to is faith and family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He will sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to thank so many friends and family for their words of encouragement and support and the Visions Hospice for their compassion and for taking such good care of our dear George.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday July 13, 2015 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, (1128 Poplar), Buhl. Graveside service will follow immediately after at West End Cemetery. A viewing for friends and family will be held, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday, July 12 at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave. North, Buhl.

Memorial donations in George's name may be made to Hospice Visions, Inc., 1770 Parkview Drive, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
