Glenda Rae (Cox) Berry

August 24, 1932 — April 15, 2024

BOISE

Glenda Rae (Cox) Berry, 91, of Boise, formerly of Buhl, Idaho, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, at a Boise hospital.

Born on August 24, 1932, on her family’s farm in Buhl, Idaho, Glenda was the daughter of Nile and Anna (Potter) Cox. Life on the farm was both challenging and rewarding, and every child in the Cox family had chores to help keep the farm running.

She attended Deep Creek and Castleford schools before graduating from Buhl High School in 1950. A bright and ambitious student, she made lifelong friends during her school years. Her love for learning and her deep appreciation for community were shaped during these early years.

After high school, Glenda attended Utah State University for a year before pursuing training at the Dental Nurses School in San Francisco, California. Following her graduation, she moved to Boise and dedicated 15 years to the dental profession. A career shift led her to Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company (later known as Mountain Bell and U S West), where she enjoyed a fulfilling 14-year career.

In 1953, Glenda met the love of her life, Bud Berry, after his return from service in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. They were married on December 19, 1958, at the original Red Rock Christian Church in Boise.

After Bud retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1971 and Idaho Power in 1979, Glenda also retired, and together they embraced life on the open road. RV adventures and camping trips with dear friends Jess, Lois, Don, and Dean were some of her fondest memories. She also cherished multiple road trips to Alaska with her friend Sharon, a writer and photographer for The Milepost Alaska travel magazine.

The couple divided their time between their winter home in Arizona and their summer home in Boise, always returning for Boise State University football season—a passion for Glenda, who was a dedicated fan and could name every NFL quarterback. Both in Boise and Arizona, Glenda and Bud formed lasting friendships with their neighbors and communities.

Glenda's unwavering faith in God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ as her Savior was a source of strength throughout her life.

She is survived by her sister, Lorna Kolsky; brothers, Jay (Carol) Cox and Evan (Diane) Cox, who were also her cherished travel companions; and a bouquet of beloved nieces and nephews.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; her sister, Anila (Melvin) Allred; her brother, Velmont (Deloris) Cox; sisters-in-law Mary Kathryn "Kay" Berglund and Margaret Ann (Pete) Greenwalt; and brothers-in-law Don Kolsky, Jack (Beverly) Berry, and Denny (Shirley) Berry.

A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho. Services were under the care of Farmer Funeral Chapel.

The family kindly requests donations be made in Glenda's memory to the Warhawk Air Museum or Idaho Public Television.
