Irene Adolf

Irene D. Meyer Adolf, recently of Missoula, Montana, died April 1, 2014 at the age of 95.

She was born April 21, 1918 in Lincoln, Kansas to Ernest H. Meyer and Clara Ludwig Meyer. The family moved to Clover, Idaho when she was two years old and she later attended Clover Lutheran grade school and Filer High School.

In 1937, she married Robert F. Adolf. Bob and Irene farmed in the Deep Creek area before buying, farming and raising cattle on a ranch near Hagerman, Idaho. They lived there for the next 35 years before retiring. In 1990, the Adolfs sold their ranch and moved to Buhl, Idaho.

After her husbands death, Irene moved to Missoula, Montana to live near a daughter. Although her husband and her family were always her first priority, Irene was also active in church and community organizations, filling many leadership positions.

Irene is survived by her children, Carol Johnson of Missoula, Montana and Donald (Darcy) Adolf of Twin Falls, Idaho; son-in-law, R.L. (Toby) Fewkes of Clackamas, Oregon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; four of five siblings, Helen Meyer of Buhl, Idaho, Hugo (Joanne) Meyer of Filer, Idaho, Alma (Sam) Haverfield of Sun City, Arizona and Hilda Meyer of Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Irene was preceded in death by Robert F. Adolf, her husband of 62 years; daughter, Anita Fewkes; son, Robert Adolf; brother, Paul Meyer; grandson, Daniel Johnson and granddaughter, LaQuita Fewkes Bengtson.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buhl, Idaho. A viewing has been scheduled for 4 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl. Irene will be laid to rest at Hagerman Cemetery, Hagerman, Idaho, following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl, Idaho.
