Irene Claxton

February 28, 1927 — April 26, 2014

Irene L. Labrensz Claxton, 87, of Twin Falls, died Saturday April 24, 2014 at a local care facility.

Irene was born February 28, 1927 in Fredonia, North Dakota to Gottfried and Emilia Labrensz.

Irene moved to Buhl, Idaho in 1951 with her daughter Sharon to live with her sister Hilma Cline. She met Clint Claxton shortly after moving to Buhl. Clint and Irene were married in Elko, Nevada. Clint and Irene lived in Buhl all of their married lives. They enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. They had one son, Harold.

Irene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the LWML. She faithfully sent cards to church members who had new babies, were ill or had suffered a loss. She loved going to thier homes to visit as well.

Her great-grandchildren, who called her GG, were a special gift and she loved having them visit. She would always ask about them and made sure to send the message that she loved and missed them when they couldn’t come to Twin. When her granddaughters were young she would play Yatzee with them and they loved hearing her yell “Yatzee” when she rolled the right dice. Irene was known for her one-line letters or cards. When you received a letter from her, it could cover several pages but was one line! She was a faithful Lutheran all her life and made sure her kids went to church no matter what.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Tommy) Fischer; brother, Harold (Ramona) Lebrensz of Mobridge, S.D.; two granddaughters, Lisa (Jay) Reinke, Angie (Del) Peterson; four great-grandchildren, Drew Reinke, Kate Reinke, Anna Peterson, Gwen Peterson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clint; son, Harold; brother, Leonard and sister, Hilma.
