Irvin Dale Carlton, 89, of Buhl, passed away on December 5, 2022 at Autumn Breeze Assisted Living Facility in Buhl, Idaho. Dale was born in Tuttle, Idaho to J.H. and Lurose Carlton on February 2, 1933.
He graduated from Twin Falls High School. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force serving in the SAC Command as a flight crewman on a B-36 bomber. After he served, he worked as an Automotive Machinist for Kirkhams for about 16 years.
He then married Gwen Kirkham on August 31, 1962 in Elko, Nevada. They had a daughter, Teri, in 1964 and a son, Ed, in 1965. In 1968, Dale started farming west of Buhl and continued farming for 53 years. He enjoyed time with his family and friends and trips to Oregon and Alaska.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen Carlton; father, J.H. Carlton; mother, Lurose Carlton; brother, Herald Carlton; and sisters, Virginia Carlton and Levelle Adamson.
Dale is survived by daughter, Teri (Terry) Gonterman; son, Ed (Toni) Carlton; sister, Delores Billman; grandson, Cory Gonterman (Shelbi Waters); granddaughter, Angie “Weinie” (Jarom) Wray; grandson, Grady Carlton (Aric Higdon); grandson, Oren Carlton (Dakota Hoogland); and great granddaughters, Elly and Emily Gonterman, and Addalyn and Wyatt.
Dale’s family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to staff of Hospice Visions and Autumn Breeze Assisted Living and special thanks to Connie and Allen Riley.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Castleford United Methodist Church, 303 Elm St., Castleford. Burial will follow at a later date.
