On August 15, 2016, James Joseph Hendrix, passed away at home with
his family by his side.
Jim was born on June 6, 1934 to Carl and Helen Hendrix in Twin Falls. Jim lived on the family farm near the Cedar Draw community, from the age of 6 months until his death. He rode his white horse Toby, to Cedar Draw Country School, which he attended through the 8th grade and graduated from Buhl High School in 1952. Jim married his high school sweetheart, Dixie Lee Richmond, in May 1954. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this past May. To this union, they had four children. He was compassionate about his family. Many fond and wonderful memories exist due to his ever present dedication and involvement with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved attending events and sharing travel adventures in their lives.
In his early years, Jim was a member of the national guard. He also drove a milk truck while working the family farm. In 1996, after retirement from farming, he again drove truck, sometimes across country, satiating his adventure spirit. Jim loved hunting in the fall, welding and woodworking. He had such a passion for Nascar, that he attended the Daytona 500 several times. Jim was a member of the West End Men's Club and the Buhl First Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dixie; his children, Linda (Jim Holt), Connie Hendrix, Timothy Hendrix, and Amy Smith; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and 2 brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the First Christian Church in Buhl. A time of viewing will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 22, 2016 at Farmer Funeral Chapel, Buhl. Interment will follow the funeral service at the West End Cemetery in Buhl. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel of Buhl, Idaho.
The family would like to thank Travis and the rest of the hospice team who gave Jim compassionate and excellent care these last 8 months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Luke's Hospice or the First Christian Church in Buhl.
