BUHL

James Joseph Kodesh Sr., 87, of Buhl, Idaho passed away trying to save his son from a fire at home on August 18, 2021.
James was born in Richfield, Idaho on January 6, 1934 to James J. and Emma Kodesh.
After high school James enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, in 1952, served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He then returned to Idaho, walked into the Manhattan Cafe in Shoshone and laid eyes upon his one true love, Verna Burgess.
Being married January 1, 1956, they were by each other’s side until the day Verna passed in 2020. We know she was the first thing he laid eyes on again as he crossed the gate into heaven.
James enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard and retired honorably. He continued to serve through his dedication to the Moose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Both being places he left a big imprint with his heart, and his laughter.
Jim also enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and bowling all of which he did surrounded by family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Verna, and 11 brothers and sisters. He was joined in death by his son, James Kodesh Jr.
He is survived by his brother, John Bobby Kodesh; son, David (Susan) Kodesh;  nine grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Kodesh, Melinda (David) Snyder, Casie (Travis) Spearing, Courtney (Jeremy) Fearheller, Tarah Anderson, Kendra Kodesh (Mack Wilson), Bryce Osborne, Alicia Kodesh, and Emily Kodesh; 18 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
