Jeanette Peterson

September 3, 1939 — January 26, 2024

BOISE

Jeanette Brann Peterson, 85, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away January 26, 2024 in Boise, ID. Jeanette was born September 3, 1939 to Bud and Dorothy Brann in Twin Falls, ID. Jeanette grew up on the family farm and attended school in Filer, ID. She enjoyed being outdoors and working beside her dad on the farm. Jeanette excelled at showing black Angus steers in 4H, so much so that after winning Grand Champion for 4 years in a row, the Twin Falls County Fair thought it was best to give her the traveling trophy.

On June 9, 1957 Jeanette married Harold Peterson from Buhl. They spent their married life in the Filer community, farming, raising livestock and racing horses. Their lives became full with the birth of their sons, Hal and Hobie. Jeanette loved being a mother and regularly hauled her boys and their horses to horse shows and Little Britches Rodeos. Over the years, many grown kids have come forward sharing stories of Jeanette’s monetary generosity when she covered their entry fees so that they could rodeo.

Jeanette was a long-time business owner in Filer with Jeanette’s Country Curl. Her salon was popular with men, women and children but the ladies especially liked the beauty shop where they could socialize, relax, and try out the latest trends. Jeanette’s creativity was also expressed through her painting, well-manicured lawn, and delicious home cooking.

Jeanette took pride in creating a home where children could circulate in and out. They could stay for a short while or for multiple years. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would cook and wrap presents for days preparing for the celebration.

Jeanette was actively involved in High School Rodeo. For years she held the position as the District 6, Idaho State and National Finals High School Rodeo Secretary. After her boys graduated from high school, she became the CSI rodeo secretary for 25 years and traveled to Las Vegas as Shawn Davis’s secretary for the National Finals Rodeo.

In the later part of Jeanette's life, she demonstrated unwavering courage and strength as she devotedly looked after Harold during his battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Her challenges persisted with an Alzheimer's diagnosis and the heartbreaking loss of her son, Hal. Despite these adversities, Jeanette's selfless kindness towards others continued to radiate. In 2010, Hobie relocated his parents to Nampa. Despite grappling with memory loss, Jeanette always extended a warm welcome to family and friends and recognized Hobie until the end.

Jeanette resided at Treasure Valley Life Care Center until her passing. The family is thankful that Jeanette has been released from pain and is now reunited with her parents Bud and Dorothy, her husband, Harold, her son Hal, and her grandson, Rabon.

Jeanette is survived by her son, Hobie (Tawni); her daughter-in-law, Vicki (Mike) Guerry; her grandchildren, Rio, Radley (Emily), Alicia, Josie (Arron), and Jake; and her four great-grandchildren.
