Jerry Edward Norris was born April 3, 1934. He passed away May 5, 2024, at the age of 90, from complications at St. Lukes Magic Valley on May 5, 2024, at 4:03 pm.
He was born to Jerry Ellis Norris and Jesse Pauline Norris. They had 7 children, Catherine Carol Bates of Colorado, Lela Christine Sharp of Idaho, Marge Paulene Palmer of Alabama, Linda May Coates of Arizona, Thomas Herrick Norris of Idaho, and Bobby Eugene Norris who passed away shortly after birth.
Jerry married Bertha Mae Brown on January 23, 1968, and they were married for 53 years. They had 3 children, Kathy Mae Hensen of Jerome, Idaho, Leroy Ellis Norris of Jerome, Idaho, and Bobby Alan Norris of Twin Falls, Idaho. Jerry has 6 grand kids and 5 great grandchildren.
Jerry liked to do many things such as fishing, hunting, trapping, rock hounding, growing his wonderful garden, and mining gold, garnets and Bruneau jasper.
Jerry was a 3rd class boatswain’s mate on the USS Shangri-La CVA 38 in the United States Navy, and he was honorably discharged December 1, 1960. After the Navy, Jerry attended the College of Southern Idaho and obtained his certification in Welding.
Jerry liked telling his life adventures from traveling around the world in the Navy, to fishing, hunting, trapping, and mining. In his older years you could find him going to yard sales with his wife, Bertha, and their children. Even though he had passed the hunting period of his life, he liked going hunting with his 3 children and his brother, Tom Norris.
He had a lot of friends, he was loved by many, and was a friend to all. No matter what he was doing, he had a humorous outcast about him and could crack a joke or funny comment on the point. His oldest son was once told that Jerry was like Yosemite Sam, he was not a large man, but his personality made up for it.
Jerry was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Bertha Norris; sisters, Katherine and Christine; brother, Bobby; and his best friend and cousin, Raymond Lapray.
