Jerry Duane Stahlman

Jerry Duane Stahlman was born to Millard and Fern (Crisp) Stahlman on May 4, 1943, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He passed away on January 4, 2021, at his home in Mesa, Arizona, from ALS after a long battle with the disease.

Jerry grew up and attended all 12 years of school in Buhl, graduating in 1961.  He always remembered fondly his childhood in Buhl and loved to tell stories about the good old days.  While growing up, Jerry helped in the family bee business and after his high school graduation, he worked full-time with his father and grandfather.  He married Linda Hartman on December 7, 1963 (later divorced).  They raised four children, Angela, Doug, Dan and Kim.

In 1969, Jerry bought his own bee business and moved the family to Elm Creek, Nebraska.  In 1981, he had an opportunity for better bee territory in South Dakota.  He started moving his beekeeping operation. By 1986, the bee business was completely operated from Selby, South Dakota.  Jerry worked with his two sons, Doug and Dan, until his retirement in 2005.

After retiring, Jerry continued to enjoy his love of street rods, custom and high performance cars.  He owned a ’34 Chevy Coupe street rod for 60 years that won many awards at car shows.  He also loved just driving.  He and Julie crisscrossed the United States in a motor home, made five trips to Alaska and Canada with a camper, and took motor home adventures in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.  They spent the winters in Arizona and traveled to many countries and events throughout the world while he was still able.  He was diagnosed with ALS in 2018.

He is survived by his children, Angela Stahlman of Jerome, Idaho; Doug (Marissa) Stahlman of Selby, South Dakota; Dan (Kris Fordham) Stahlmam of Selby, South Dakota; and Kim Colsden (Dan Hill) of Kearney, Nebraska; his sister, Janice (Chuck) Madsen of Sandy, Utah; his partner of 25 years, Julie Lundquist of Mesa, Arizona; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one niece.

The family will greet guests from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm, Monday, January 25, 2021 at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave North, Buhl. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at West End Cemetery, 1574 East 4150 North, Buhl.
