Jesse Allen

March 12, 1925 — October 28, 2018

Jesse William Allen, 93, of Buhl, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Jesse was born in Idabell, Oklahoma, March 12, 1925 to Avery and Rosey Allen. The family moved to California where Jesse finished his schooling. At a young age, he joined the U.S. Army and was involved in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach. He was one of four surviving members of his platoon. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals. Jesse continued his military career serving for 28 years, also serving in the Korean and Vietnam campaigns. Jesse retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1970.

Jesse married Earcilee Powers in California when Jesse was joining the military. Together they had six children. Earcilee passed away in 2007. Jesse then met and married Erika Kerpa and they were married for 10 years until he passed.

Jesse was an avid fisherman, deer and elk hunter. He loved to take and teach his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to fish and was always eager to take the newest child for their first fishing experience. He played the guitar and made silver and turquoise jewelry.

Jesse was preceded in death by an infant son, William; daughter, Sandra Brant; wife, Earcilee; sister, Paulene and brother, James.

He is survived by his wife, Erika; daughters, Valerie Haynes, Cindy Kenney, Vicky Lucia, Myra Wood; brother, Morris Allen; step-sons, Walter Kerpa, Edward Kerpa; many, grandchildren, great-grandchildren great-great grandchildren nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl. A time for viewing will be from 10:00 - 10:50 a.m. before the funeral. Interment with military honors will follow the services at the Buhl West End Cemetery.
