Jessie Fern Bingham passed away on Wednesday, 18 November 2015, in Meridian, Idaho.
Fern was born 31 December 1919 in Elba, Idaho. She was the fifth of six children born to Russel King Hepworth and Jane Glen Hepworth. Fern grew up on a dry farm in Elba. She learned cooking at her mother's knee and was well known for her delicious noodles, cakes, pies, and cookies. Fern met her future husband, Charles Willard Bingham, when he ordered a hamburger at the café where she was worked. One day he asked her to a dance and they married a year later on 17 February 1942 in Salt Lake City. They celebrated 55 years together.
Charles and Fern raised three children on their farm in Buhl, Idaho. Fern occasionally took a job cleaning houses or hotel rooms to help make ends meet. Upon retirement, Charles and Fern rented out the farm and commuted weekly to Boise to work in the L.D.S. Temple. After Charles passed away in 1997 Fern moved to Boise to be near her daughter and continued to work in the temple, eventually completing a total 25 years of service.
Fern is survived by her three children, Larry & Julia Bingham of Filer, Idaho; Charla and Ken Eldredge of Boise Idaho and Randy Bingham of Buhl, Idaho. At the time of her death, Fern had nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren (one more on the way), and one great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Monday, 23 November 2015, at the L.D.S. chapel at 501 Main Street Buhl, Idaho. Viewing begins at 10:00 am. Funeral begins at 11:00 am. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Alpine Meadows Assisted Living Center.
