Joann McKenzie

Joann (Thompson) McKenzie, 79, of Buhl, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at her home.

Joann Minnie Rasmussen was born June 6, 1935 in Buhl, Idaho to Samuel and Grace Rasmussen. Joann graduated from Buhl High School in 1953. Upon graduation she began working various jobs which included working for the telephone company and as a checker at local grocery stores.

In 1954, Joann married Ed Moore and to this union two children were born, Lori and Thomas. In 1968, Joann married Virgil Thompson and to this union two children were born, Lisa and Kent. In 2007, Joann married Marvin McKenzie.

Mom always enjoyed cooking meals, helping anyone in need whether it be moving, wallpapering, painting, giving her friends perms, and taking on many sewing projects.

She is survived by her husband, Marv; her children, Lori (Steve) Ridley, Thomas (Jeanne) Moore, Lisa (Steve) Wiedmeier and Kent Thompson; Stepchildren, Theda (Doug) Share, Destry McKenzie and Shannon McGuire; 27 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Jessica, Lucy, Lee and her brother, George.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; stepson, Archie; her twin brother, Jim; brothers, Ward, Loren and sisters, Joyce, Helen and Harriet.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church (110 Fruitland Ave.) in Buhl. A viewing will be held 4 - 6 pm on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Chapel.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Buhl Quick Response Unit.
