Jonathon Smith passed away peacefully in his home July 7, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was surrounded by his wife and daughters.
John was born in Twin Falls, Idaho, on November 25, 1958, to Alvey J and Nadine Smith (Rousseau). John moved to the Rupert area when he was very young, but the family eventually moved back to Twin Falls.
John attended Twin Falls High School through the 11th grade. After a few years of running around with his friends, and finding whatever “trouble” he could find, John enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1978 as 12B Combat Engineer and was honorably discharged in 1981.
John had a few jobs before he found the one job he absolutely loved. He attended truck driving school and started operating heavy wreckers for Magic Valley Towing in February 2003. This is where he found the love of his life. After some time, John and Loriesa were married on June 12, 2004, at a family farm in Buhl, Idaho.
John remained in the towing field until 2012, when he changed to driving semi over the road. John drove long haul until March 2024, when he got the chance to retire. John and Loriesa attend(ed) Jerome Free Will Baptist Church.
John’s favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, anything gun related, spending time with his family, but most of all, seeing his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his father Alvey J Smith; his mother Nadine Smith (Rousseau); sister, Iva Marie McCullough; and brothers, Larry Smith and Roderick Smith.
John is survived by his wife Loriesa; daughters, Jennifer Johnson of Boise, Idaho, Rebecca Anderson (Jason) of Buhl, Idaho, Amanda Corle of Hailey, Idaho, Ashley Freeman (Justin) of Caldwell, Idaho, and Amelia Whitehead (Michael) of Jerome, Idaho. He leaves behind twelve beautiful grandchildren (Kaitlyn & Hailee) (Lilly, Maddie, & Gus) (Jonathan & Andrew) (Aria, River & Stetson) (Remington & Amara) who will forever miss their Papa.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Jerome Free Will Baptist Church, 810 S Cleveland St., Jerome.
