Joshua Hans Joseph Thorne, aged 46, died January 24, 2022 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls. He was surrounded by his wife & children after an 18 month struggle with the effects of End Stage Liver Disease. He fought bravely towards the opportunity of a liver transplant, but in the end his body had endured all it could.
Josh was born June 2, 1975 to Warren & JoAnn (Ainsworth) Thorne in Twin Falls, Idaho. He was a lifelong resident of Twin Falls. Josh graduated from Magic Valley High School in 1993.
Josh worked under his dad at Blue Lakes Country Club as kitchen staff, server & bartender. In October of 1995, Josh began working for T.E.C. Distributing of Idaho. He participated in every level of the distribution industry. He rose through the ranks from delivery driver to sales to management.
Josh was a specialist in wine distribution. He attended regional conferences to learn about new labels and trends for the year. Josh enjoyed holding wine tastings around the Magic Valley and especially attending the Sun Valley wine auction in the summer.
Josh was big, fun, and the life of the party. He was liked and respected by his co-workers, the restaurant and bar owners and employees. Josh was well known everywhere he went in Twin Falls.
He married Audra Gabica in 1996. They later divorced.
In September 2001, he married his best friend, Brandy Adolf. He was an attentive, supportive and loving husband. Together they filled their life with adventures, the greatest of all being their children, Laken & Logan. Being a kid at heart, Josh was a wonderful father to his kids. He looked forward to Saturday morning cartoons & movie night snuggled up on the couch. They were his pride & joy.
Josh loved cooking for his family. From ‘Soupy Sunday’ & Thursday night dinners with his in-laws to taking on the title of ‘cookie’ at camp.
He loved camping with his family, taking morning hikes with the kids to see what animal activity had happened overnight and sitting around the campfire watching the stars.
Josh fell in love with fly fishing and became a skilled fisherman. He always took his fly rod with him on trips around the state. In between appointments, he would sneak a line in the water whenever possible. He taught Brandy how to fly fish and graciously took the teasing that ensued when she would out fish him. They cherished the time together on the waters of the Big Wood River.
One of his favorite holiday events was certainly the Thorne Family Thanksgiving dinners at Max & Penny’s – who could forget?! He didn’t always care for football, but Brandy turned him into a die-hard K.C. Chiefs fan. He was a Star Wars superfan and knew the most intricate details about the entire franchise.
He looked forward to the yearly ‘Mantastic Voyage’ camp trip with his brother- in-law Rob & cousin Steve.
He was skilled at playing Magic: The Gathering card game with his brother, James. Josh played guitar and loved heavy metal & rock music. There wasn’t a band he didn’t know something about. He was a talented artist and had recently begun painting miniature figurines.
He loved his role as ‘a brother from another mother’ to Jade, Melissa & Morgan McCoy, who endured his endless teasing. Many school projects were completed with Josh’s help around the dinner table. Bodda bing!
Josh was preceded in death by his parents, Warren & JoAnn Thorne, and by grandparents, aunts, uncles & cousins.
Josh is survived by his wife Brandy Thorne, Twin Falls, ID; their daughter, Laken; son, Logan; brother, James Thorne of Wendell, ID, & his family, Melissa, Natalie, Henry, Hannah & Jacob Thorne; in-laws, Don & Darcy Adolf, brother-in-law Rob Adolf & his family, Mirna & Emma and extended family.

We want to extend our most sincere thanks to all of the nurses at St. Luke’s MVRMC who took care of Josh over the past 18 months. From the nurses in infusion & radiology to the ER staff, ICU & Hospice nurses in his final days. They all gave Josh comfort & support in what was the most difficult time of his life. Their care & concern for him did not go unnoticed. We thank them for their dedication.
