Joyce C Hoffman December 4, 1932 - July 27, 2016
Joyce Hoffman (83) went to meet her Lord on July 27, 2016. She was born in Richmond, Utah to Harold and Beatrice (Alvey) Christofferson. Her family moved to Buhl in her senior year of high school and on July 6, 1950, she married her high school sweetheart Nyal Hoffman. They were married 26 years and had 5 children together: Linda, Dennis, Scott and the twins Stacy and Tracy.
Joyce and Nyal were instrumental in starting Clear Springs Trout Company in 1966. In the late 80's she set off on one of her greatest adventures to Tasmania where she was given the opportunity to share with others all she knew about filleting fish. Memories of this trip were among her most precious and she loved to share them with anyone who asked. Joyce continued to work for Clear Springs in various positions until she retired on 1994.
Known far and wide as "Buhl's Cookie Lady," Joyce's not so secret recipes to date has never been successfully duplicated by another living soul. From bowling tournaments to cattle shows, road trips, college, and a few special Marines fighting overseas, Grandma's cookies were always a hit. More than once, she was even known to chase down local law enforcement, fire fighters and garbage men to share a bag or two. Chocolate chip, snickerdoodles, chocolate crinkle, and date pin wheels-never too many and never enough.
Joyce loved her family very much. She made quilts for all her kids and grandkids and did mending and alterations for all her friends and family. Always available to lend a hand or a sympathetic ear, she never missed a chance to babysit a grandchild or fix a meal. She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her 5 children: Linda (Joe) Fritz, Dennis (Tina) Hoffman, Scott (Linda) Hoffman,
Stacy Mavencamp, Tracy (Kirk) Woolman. 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and her sister
Beth (Don) Lierman.
She was preceded in death by her brother Eugene Christofferson, grandson Joshua Hoffman, great grandchildren Jacob Lewis, Emily Hoffman, and son-in-law Danny Garrett.
Rest in peace Mommy.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2016 at Buhl's West End Cemetery.
