Katherine Lois Carroll, 89, of Buhl, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, after a battle with breast cancer. She had a long and fulfilling life and will be deeply missed.
Katherine was born on March 5, 1935, in Buhl, Idaho, and was the daughter of Ervin and Olive Marie Morrison. Katherine started 1st grade in Mellon Valley School, then later went to Lucerne School. She graduated in 1954 from Buhl High School.
After graduation, Katherine moved to Bellflower, California, and attended Long Beach Junior College. While at college, she met and married Denis Carroll on January 12, 1957, and moved to Wiesbaden, Germany, where her husband was stationed in the Air Force.
Katherine was married 37 years and had two daughters, Diana and Linda. During her early work career, she was a bank bookkeeper at Farmers Bank. Due to her husband’s military career, she moved around and lived in Wichita Falls, Texas, Spokane, Washington, and at Edwards Air Force Base in California. After her husband retired from the Air Force in December 1972, Katherine and Denis returned to Buhl, Idaho, where Katherine then worked for Rangen’s in Accounts Payable until she retired.
After retiring, Katherine enjoyed camping in her RV and some of her favorite places were Quartzsite, Arizona, Fairfield, Hells Canyon, and Cascade. She also liked to sew clothes, crocheting, and growing and canning her vegetables. She loved her cats and always had one or two around.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing cards, especially Pinochle, and she always valued her time spent with friends and fellow Pinochle players. Katherine was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and later Magic Valley Baptist Church. Her church was important to her as well as the many friends she made there.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Olive Marie Morrison; husband, Denis Carroll; and her son-in-law, David Logan.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Logan and Linda Rodig; son-in-law, Kim Rodig; grandsons, Andrew and Matthew Logan; great grandson, Landon Logan; and her brother, Joe (Nancy) Morrison.
Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, November 6, 2024, at the Magic Valley Baptist, 400 9th Ave N, Buhl.
