Keegan Felton

Keegan Thomas Felton, the young man with the never-give-up attitude, has passed from this earth. He was born May 7, 1994, in Twin Falls, Idaho, and died suddenly on Monday, September 25, 2017, while jogging on the indoor track at the University of Idaho Fitness Center.

Keegan entered the world under difficult circumstances. He and his mother, Brenda, had to fight for their lives following a complicated birth. Keegan was a determined soul from his first breath to his last. He faced life with an unequaled ability to overcome any obstacle placed in his path. His kind and gentle spirit has been an inspiration to his family and those who knew him best.


Keegan spent his childhood years in Buhl. He loved doing things with his family. He was always ready to participate in family boating, water skiing, four- wheeling, skiing at Sun Valley, entertaining friends, or helping cook and serve for the Vandal Pig Out. His school years were spent at Popplewell Elementary, Buhl Middle School, and Buhl High School. It was in high school that found his passion in life . . . . . . . ACTING. The Buhl Drama teacher, Mr. B (David Blaszkiewicz), became his teacher, mentor, and friend. It was through his involvement with other like-minded students and under the caring guidance of Mr. B that Keegan was able to enjoy countless hours of rehearsals, set building, and performances in theatre productions. He often memorized not only his part in a play, but also all the other cast members' parts! The Thespians and other students interested in acting became the center of his teenage world. He was selected during his Junior year as the recipient of the Triple A award for Activities. It was an honor that Keegan cherished.

After high school graduation, Keegan applied to the University of Idaho and was selected for the Ravens Program (for students on the autism spectrum). He flourished in the new learning environment. He was proud to be taking traditional credited classes along with participating in all aspects of college life. A presentation he made to the Seagraves Charitable Foundation resulted in a gift of $100,000 to help fund the Ravens Program. This year he was chosen to begin training to be a mentor to other students in that program.

His highest aspiration was to become a famous actor. In Moscow, he was chosen for the lead role in a student written and directed movie, "The Wounded." The movie won first place in the Keno Film Festival.

Whether Keegan was living on campus or off, he always answered the phone, "Vandal Headquarters!" He was a loyal Vandal supporter and attended most athletic events. Tailgating and sitting in the Ad Club Box were two of his favorite activities. He was very relieved when the Vandals recently won their 6-plus hour game against Southern Alabama and was looking forward to Homecoming. His Facebook page reflected a young man who made an effort to stay connected with those he loved. He initiated conversations and could tell any listener the history and statistics of almost any motion picture (past and present). All of this was done with energy and enthusiasm. His response to anyone asking how he was doing was always, "I'M GOOD!" And, he would close the conversation with "GO VANDALS!"

At the end of his life, he was happy with where he was, what he was doing, and the people surrounding him. He loved his family, his actor friends, his pets, and the University of Idaho. He will be buried on a hilltop that overlooks his beloved Vandal Nation.

Keegan is survived by his mother and father, Mike and Brenda Felton (Twin Falls); his brother, Cooper (Moscow), his grandparents, Mike and Judy Felton (Buhl) and Norm and Flora Walker (Boise); his Aunts and Uncles, Jeff Walker (Danielle) of Boise, Heather Medland (Kurt) (Herndon, Virginia), Donna Albaitero (Juan) (Woodland, Wa.), and cousins Andrew, Emma, Morgan, Amanda and Mateo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Buhl High School Drama Department or Camp Rainbow Gold. A private family burial was held in Moscow.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the 7th Street Gymnasium in Buhl. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
