Lea Mae Seidel

May 28, 1929 — August 7, 2024

TWIN FALLS

Lea Mae Hansen Roberts Seidel, 95, of Buhl, passed away on August 7, 2024, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family. Lea was born May 28, 1929, in Wendell, Idaho, to Albert and Mabel Hill Hansen. The family made their home in Buhl, Idaho, where Lea attended school.

February 26, 1945, Lea married Norman Roberts and they made their home on the family farm in Buhl. In 1951 they were sealed in the Salt Lake, Utah Temple. Lea was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings.

In 1953 the family moved to Richland, Washington, for one year before returning to Buhl where dad started working at Safeway’s. After several years he transferred to Jerome Safeway and they moved to Jerome. Mom became a nurse and worked at Saint Benedicts Hospital, and later, the Twin Falls Clinic Hospital.

After their divorce, mom met Stan Seidel and remarried. Stan’s work as a sheet metal welder took them to California and Arizona. During this time, mom continued to work as a nurse. After they retired, they built a home in Apache Junction, Arizona, where they enjoyed raising oranges, lemons, and grapefruit. They spent lots of time traveling to Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Iowa.

After several years, Lea and Stan sold their home in Arizona and moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, to be closer to family. After Stan passed away and mom’s health declined, she moved to Buhl to live with her daughter Linda for three and a half years before moving to River Rock Assisted Living.

Mom loved cooking and baking and growing vegetables and flowers. She loved her family, especially the babies.

Lea is survived by her daughters, Linda (Gene) Hunt of Buhl and Evonne McCormick of Twin Falls; sons, Dale (Barbara) Roberts of Fort Rock Oregon, Mike Roberts of Hollister, and Rick (Lillian) Roberts of Rochester, Washington; sister, Donna Sherrill of Jerome; 23 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mable; brothers, Norman and Duane Hansen; sister, Dorothy Kocnick; daughter, Barbara Roberts; daughter-in-law, Susan Roberts; son-in-law, Jack McCormick; and grandsons, Jered Sabala and Dustin Hunt.

The family would like to thank River Rock Assisted Living and Serenity Transitional Care for her time spent there.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, with a viewing beginning at 12:00 pm, Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 501 Main Street, Buhl.
