Lois Jane Mildon was born March 7, 1935, to Rudolph and Arabelle Peterson in Buhl, Idaho. She grew up on the family homestead south of Buhl in the Fairview area. She and her siblings Harold, Carol, Evelyn, and Ray grew up helping on the farm and dairy operations. All were very active in 4H.
Every winter she would reminisce about the bad winter of 1948 and 1949, and would talk about grandpa hauling all the neighborhood kids to the Fairview School with his caterpillar and sled. They would then go haul all the neighborhood milk cans to town.
Lois married Lee Henderson on January 1, 1956, and into this union were born two sons, Robert and Tom. They started a trucking company, Rocky Mountain Trout, first hauling live trout and later leased to Rangens, they hauled grains, beans, live trout, and commodities to the 11 western states and Canada. They divorced in 1974.
Lois worked for the Buhl Creamery, the Buhl Pharmacy, and the Buhl City Hall as ware clerk. Later, she ran the Wild West Video store where she met the real true love of her life, Walter Mildon. He eventually walked in on a very busy day and proposed to her, and from that day on they were inseparable. They were married in the Presbyterian Church in Buhl and left from there for their honeymoon on his Honda Aspencade motorcycle. They took it to Florida and Pennsylvania several times. Together they ran a busy painting business and were always working, taking a few side trips for fishing or camping always with their dog Chi Chi and later with their 4 Shar Pei dogs. They would enter the bike in car shows in Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Boise, not to mention various parades.
After they sold the cycle, they bought a place in Filer and along with painting they landscaped their property eventually winning a gardening award. Roses, trees, and gardens kept them busy and when Walt’s health failed, they stayed at home decorating for every occasion both inside and outside the house.
Lois had a special love for her family and friends and kept track of all of them. She could tell you where and what all of them were doing, even recalling great nieces and nephews names.
From her garden she canned much of it, and there was always a large garden planted until her health started to decline and she had to downsize and slow down.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walt; a brother, Harold; and nephew, Hal.
Lois is survived by her sons, Robert (Rose) and Tom; sisters, Carol (Charlie), Evelyn (Del); brother, Ray (Ronel); grandson, Chance; granddaughter, Amber (Adam); and great grandchildren, Zack and Zoey.
