Lorita “Marie” Inchausti, a 92-year-old longtime resident of Castleford, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, at a local assisted living facility.
Marie was born on October 13, 1931, in St. Marys, Kansas, one of five children born to Stanley A. Fields and Laura Adena Fields (Carlson). The family moved to Idaho in 1946, where Marie graduated from Castleford high school in 1948. Within a few years, she met and fell in love with a handsome, young Basque man, Pete Inchausti. They married and began a family – a daughter, Vicki, and a son, Kenny. She worked alongside Pete in his trade of building fine cabinetry, meticulously keeping the books but also becoming quite the accomplished cabinetmaker herself. After Pete’s untimely death in 1972, Marie went on to college obtaining an associate degree at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) and earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boise State University, where she graduated with high honors. With these skills, she took a job in the administration offices of CSI and enjoyed a nearly 20-year career as an accountant there, retiring in 1996.
While she excelled in her education and work, her love and attention was always focused on her family – her children, parents, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews – and she took great delight in being a grandmother and great grandmother. She was an avid and quite accomplished bowler and made beautiful Swedish-stitch blankets, which she gifted to many family members and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Norrie; her brother, Bob Fields; grandsons, Pete Inchausti, Ryan (Andi) Inchausti, and Tyson Wheeler; granddaughter, Whitney Inchausti; four great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kay Fields; daughter-in-law, Nancy Inchausti; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; her son, Ken; sisters, Geneva Benson and Lola Graybeal; and her brother, Jack Fields.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 29, 2024, at the Castleford First Baptist Church, 290 Winesap Ave, Castleford. A graveside service for the family will be held at West End Cemetery.
