Loy Walden

Loy Carroll Walden 88, of Buhl, passed away April 23, 2017 in Meridian, Idaho with his children and loved ones by his side.
He was born in Huntsville, Arkansas on March 12, 1929, the 6th of 8 children born to John Elmer and Mollie Walden. The family moved to Buhl, Idaho in 1942 where he attended school and where later he enlisted in the Navy for 1 year.
Loy first married Frieda Brewer, they had two children; Ricky and Vicky. They later divorced and in 1957, Loy married Marge Harms Davis, she had two children: Gary Wayne and Debbie, and together they had four more children; Scott, Kelly, Bruce and Shawna. They were later divorced, and Loy remarried Frieda in 1986 and were together until her passing in 2013.
After the Navy, Loy returned to Buhl where he worked numerous custom jobs, was a ditch rider for Twin Falls Canal Company and then finished his career with the Buhl Highway Department, from which he retired.
Loy was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family.
Loy was an accomplished musician and it was one of his greatest enjoyments. He started playing at an early age when he formed a band called "The Buhl Ramblers", playing on radio shows in Twin Falls. Later he was joined by his brother, Junior, and they formed the "Walden Brothers" band, which became one of the most popular bands in Idaho. They played throughout the Northwest.
Loy wrote and recorded songs with Junior for MVI records, which were distributed and played nationwide. Loy will be remembered for his music accomplishments, singing, playing guitar, fiddle and mandolin.
Loy was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda; two of his children, Ricky and Vicky; his father and mother, John Elmer and Mollie; his brothers, Lawrence, Floyd and Coy Walden and his
sisters, Clorene Rathbun and Rema Wiggins.
He is survived by his brother, Junior; sister, Norma Jean Catterson; his children, Scott (Andrea), Kelly (Steve) Porter, Bruce (Brenda), Shawna (Shannon) Sonner Eggleston Gary (Phyllis) Davis and Debbie (Fred) Rouse and by 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Calvary Chapel in Buhl, Idaho. A time of viewing will be held between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, April 27, 2017, at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
