Martin Vaclav Novak, 87, of Buhl, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at his home.
Martin was born March 3, 1926 to Martin Novak and Anna Novak Holeinsky in Buhl, Idaho. Martin attended grade school at Deep Creek school and graduated from Castleford High School in 1943. After Graduation, Martin enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he served as a cook, a driver, and a sharpshooter in Iwo Jima during WWII. When he returned home, he worked in the potato industry where he met and married his only true love, Mildred Brixey. Together they had five children.
Martin worked for the Pet Milk Company for 40 plus years, until he retired. He also farmed west of Buhl for almost 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie; daughter, Judy; one brother and one grandson.
Martin leaves behind his children, Joyce Freeman, Justine (Lonnie) Wright, Janice Carter (John Peterson), and John Novak; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Dad loved to fish and hunt but most of all he loved his family. He will be best remembered for his loving, echoing, loud voice (so the neighbors say), his honesty, integrity and thriftiness. He will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Martin will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 18, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Buhl, Idaho. A viewing will be held between 5 - 7pm on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho.
