Mary Partin

Our lovely mother left this earth on July 22, 2017, in the arms of her daughter and granddaughter. Mama was the most caring person we knew; always thinking of other family members, calling to check on them to make sure they were ok. Coming to her home meant you would be fed whether you were hungry or not. If you stayed long enough, you would have to play zonk, yahtzee, or cribbage before you left. Her humor increased near the end and she could make us laugh until we cried. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.

Mary Ellen Burgess Partin was born on January 11, 1923, in Ninemile, Tennessee, to Linville and Emeline Burgess. She was the fifth of seven children. Mary Ellen married Alvis Partin on April 22, 1939. They had been married 51 years when Alvis passed away in July of 1990. Alvis and Mary Ellen adopted three children, Bill, Barbara and Diane after 19 years of marriage. We were so blessed as we were on our way to a Boise orphanage when Alvis and Mary Ellen said, "We'll take all three of them." These three siblings were able to stay together. Thank You Mama and Daddy.

In the early 50's, mom worked building planes for Convair Aircraft in San Diego, California. Later, Mary Ellen and Alvis farmed and also owned and co-operated Partin's Dairy for many years, with Alvis' brothers in Buhl, Idaho. Mary Ellen was a "Leave it to Beaver," mother, practical, reasonable and strict. The smell of her cookies was delightful when us kids would come home from school. Her beautiful hands made many of our clothes and her common sense thwarted wastefulness as she canned food and made quilts. Her garden was a pristine masterpiece and her flowers brightly bloomed.

These are only a few of the wonderful things we will miss about you mama. Rest now and we will be together soon, where you will be able to see clearly and walk proudly. Love you forever.

Mary Ellen is survived by her three children, Bill (Renee) Partin, Barbara Ebbs Partin and Diane (Rick) Maritt; nine grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Andrew, Preston, Toni, Brandee, Tina, Megan and Mike; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Mason (who she adored); one step great-great granddaughter; one brother, Eldon (Betty) Burgess; many cousins, nieces and nephews, whom she dearly loved and two sister-in-laws, Ellarose Partin and Ruth Partin.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Alvis; her parents; two sisters, Lillie and Dollie; three brothers, Clarence, Edgar and Walter and one great grandson, Bailey.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl, Idaho. A meal will be served following the service at the Church of Christ on Broadway Ave in Buhl.
