Max Stander

February 19, 1926 — January 5, 2016

Max Devern Stander, 89, of Buhl, passed away January 5, 2016 at his home.

Max was born in Brigham City, Utah. He grew up and went to school in Promontory, Utah. In 1945, Max joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the Philippines.

After his military service, Max returned to Utah and farmed in Plain City. On March 11, 1966 he married Eva Annie Edmunds. Max and Eva built their dream home on the farm in Utah. In the 1970's the family moved to Idaho. Max worked at various jobs in the Buhl area. He enjoyed working at the West End Cemetery and retired from this job, several times.

After retirement, he and Eva enjoyed traveling. They spent winters in Southern Nevada. He bought properties in Nevada. He enjoyed fixing up and flipping houses. Eva passed away in 2007. Max continued to reside in both Idaho and Nevada.

Max was an excellent woodworker and carpenter. He loved to spend time in the outdoors, fishing and camping.

Max is survived by three children, James R., Richard B. and Loretta A.; numerous grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Eva and a son Robert K. Edmunds.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the West End Cemetery in Buhl, Idaho.
