Melvin "Spike" Roy Scherbinske, 84, of Buhl, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Desert View Care Center in Buhl, Idaho.
Melvin was born on January 14, 1929 in McLaughlin, South Dakota to Lydia and Otto Scherbinske. In 1934, the family moved to Filer, Idaho, where Spike attended school. In 1949, the family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho. On July 7, 1950, he married Faye Hoffman.
Melvin worked at Asgrow Seed in Filer until he was drafted into the Army. He was sent to Germany for 2 years during the Korean War. Upon returning He worked maintenance for PET Inc. He retired in 1991 after working for 37 years.
His great loves were hunting, fishing, and working in his shop. He was always fixing things and was always willing to help others.
He is survived by his wife Faye; 2 Sons, Jim and Rick (Nancy) Sherbinske; and 2 Grandchildren, Heather and Jayme.
Melvin was preceded in death by his Mother and Father and his sister, Ruth Eslinger.

"God took him home, it was His will, but in our hearts we love him still. His memory is as dear today, as in the hour he passed away. We often sit and think of him when we are all alone, For memory is the only friend, that grief can call its own."
