Patricia “Pat” Alexander passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 21, 2023. She was born in Genoa, Nebraska on December 16, 1939 to Irene and Arvid Backman. She graduated from Genoa High School and moved to Oregon with her family where they farmed mint.
In November 1962, she married the love of her life, Leland “Lee” Alexander. Pat and Lee spent the early years of their marriage moving around for various jobs Lee had taken. They had one son, Mark, and settled down in Filer in 1972. In the early 80’s, they moved to five acres shared by Mark and his wife, Denise, where the family built their life on a small orchard and barn, known at the time as Alexander’s Barn and Orchard.
Pat worked in the agricultural industry and retired from Asgrow Seed Company as the lab manager. Pat was also known as the “plant lady” and enjoyed growing beautiful plants. She was a creative painter, talented piano player, and one of her love languages was cooking delicious meals for her family.
After retirement, Pat and Lee spent many winters in Yuma, AZ where they went on numerous adventures, enjoyed the company of treasured friends, and soaked up the rays of the beautiful Arizona winter sun. They took the trip of a lifetime when they went on a safari in South Africa.
Pat was generous to everyone she encountered through volunteering at church, leading Bible studies, and her open-hearted spirit. She always greeted everyone with a smile, and everyone who knew her remembers her sincere and compassionate heart.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Lee. She is survived by her son, Mark (Denise) of Jerome; granddaughters, Jessica (Shane) of North Carolina and Megan of Jerome; and five sweet great-grandchildren: Yelena, Oliver, Micah, Luke, and Jameson.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the Twin Falls Reformed Church, 1631 Grandview Dr. N. Twin Falls, Idaho. A graveside service will be held at the Filer Cemetery, 10:00 am, prior to the church service on Tuesday.
Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on Pat’s memorial webpage at www.farmerfuneralchapel.com.
