Rachel Manson

Rachel Naomi Manson, 96, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2015 in Buhl. She was born July 8, 1918 in Butler, Missouri.

She was raised in Butler until the age of 6, then her family traveled to California by covered wagon. She graduated from high school in California. She attended college and worked at a local creamery for tuition. During that time she met Otha Manson and married him in 1941. They moved to Hood River, Oregon and had a dairy. During that time they had 3 children. In 1955, they relocated to Idaho and continued to dairy farm. They had another daughter born in Jerome, Id. in 1959. Rachel enjoyed working in her garden, camping and reading books. She continued to be an avid reader until the last weeks of her life. She had a twinkle in her eye when she talked about her childhood. She retired from Ore-Ida Potato Plant after 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, her husband, Otha, and a daughter, Roberta. She is survived by daughters, Kathryn, Erma (Grant); son, Dennis (Claudette); 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
