Richard Beem

Richard (Dick) Arthur Beem, 74 of Buhl, Idaho passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012, surrounded by family at Bridgeview after a long battle of many medical problems. Dick was born on January 29, 1938, in Ontario, Oregon to Darrold and Marjorie Beem. He was the middle son with an older brother James (Jim) Beem and younger sister Linda Childers.
Dick graduated from Ontario High School in 1956. After graduating high school, Dick attended the College of Idaho and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education in 1963. While attending high school and college, Dick was active with the varsity basketball and golf teams. During the summer months, Dick and his brother Jim spent time in McCall, Idaho competing in water ski tournaments and operating a boat touring business on Payette Lake.
He married Jackie Richmond in 1958. They raised three children, Debbie Klug and Stacie Beem of Buhl, Idaho and Eric Beem of Boise.
After Dick graduated from college, he went into partnership with his father and opened Beem's Food Centers in Caldwell and Nampa, Idaho. After selling the business, he sold cars for many years for Burn's Chevrolet in Caldwell. In the early 1980's, the family moved to Buhl and Dick was the owner/ manager the Arrow R Mobile Home Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrold and Marjorie Beem and his brother Jim Beem. He is survived by his wife, Jackie, of 54 years, his two daughters Debbie (Dave) Klug and Stacie Beem of Buhl, and his son Eric (Elizabeth) Beem of Boise, his grandson Justin Novacek, granddaughter Grace Beem and his sister, Linda (Charles) Childers of Nampa.
A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Buhl. Arrangements are under the direction of Farmer Funeral Chapel in Buhl.
Dick's wish was that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Buhl QRU, the Buhl School Foundation for Activities Scholarships (Dick loved to watch high school sports) or the charity of your choice.
