It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Ronald (Ron) Eugene Romero Sr., a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and cherished great-grandfather. Ron passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, with his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, Carol Romero, holding his hand. His final moments were filled with love, prayer, and the comforting recitation of his favorite scriptures being read to him as he crossed over to be with his Lord and Savior.
Born on December 9, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Ron grew up with a deep love for the ocean, cars, trains and planes along with dogs. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force, serving his country for four years, including a year overseas in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Ron’s life was guided by his dedication to serving both his country and his community. He began his career in law enforcement in 1971 as a reserve officer with the Santa Paula Police Department in California. After graduating from the POST Academy in 1973, he became a full-time officer, and in 1977, after earning his associate’s degree, Ron became a detective. He then took a position with the Buhl Police Department from 1982 to1996, eventually rising to the rank of Chief of Police. Ron later worked with the Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Department before returning to Buhl as a sergeant in 1998. In 2002 Ron was appointed Chief of Police for the second time and stayed until he retired in 2010.
Ron had a lifelong passion for bowling, bowling 3 to 4 nights a week. Entering many tournaments alongside his son, Ron Jr., and close friends such as Tim, Tom, Maury and Mark. He also had a lighthearted side, with a love for M&M memorabilia, classic TV shows like *The Three Stooges* and *The Andy Griffith Show* and bringing humor to those around him.
