Sadie Koehn

August 29, 1931 — September 20, 2018

Sadie Elizabeth Koehn, Koehn

Sadie Elizabeth Koehn, Koehn was born Aug. 29, 1931 to Abe and Ida Schmidt, Koehn near Ulysses, Kansas. She passed away September 20,2018, at 87 years old, at the Serenity Home in Twin Falls, Idaho. Mom had hip surgery just three days earlier and seemed to be doing fine. She left this life peacefully.
Mom moved with her family to Oklahoma when she was two years old. Two years later her mother passed away. Being the only girl in the family, she lived with several other families until her dad married Katie Kahn in 1940. Then she moved home with her family.
Mom went to grade school at various places and went to High School in Livingston, California where she moved with her family.
Mom was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite January 28, 1945 by Minister Dave Dyck at Winton, California. She loved her Lord and the church all her life.
In the early 60s mom worked at Grace Nursing Home. After that she spent a couple years in Greasewood, Arizona Mission. Then she went on to nurses training in San Jose, Calif. and received her license as an LVN.
Sadie married our dad, Albert Koehn, on July 1, 1973 by Minister Edward Schmidt at Livingston, California. She was a wonderful wife to dad. She changed from being a nurse to being dad’s helper on the farm and enjoyed doing what dad liked doing. They had 12 acres of almond trees, some fruit trees in the yard closer to the house, and garden each year. She moved with dad to New Plymouth, Idaho in November of 1992. They bought a little place in the country, 2 acres with a nice house and a shop. After dad’s passing, mom sold that place and bought a new house on Pine Street in New Plymouth, Idaho. When mom was not able to live alone anymore she moved into, Evergreen Place, an assisted living home in Buhl, Idaho.
When mom married our dad she became a mom and grandma. She loved all of us even though some of us were adults already. Mom loved the Lord and often spoke of her desire for all of us children to love him too.
Left behind with many fond memories are us children; Dennis & Gladene of Filer Idaho, Jimmie & Verna, of Buhl, Idaho, Delores Koehn and Florence Koehn of New Plymouth, Idaho, Richard and Dalene Koehn of Winton, California, Wesley and Karen Koehn of Buhl, Idaho, Dorothy and Karl Ensz of Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Kelvin and Betty Koehn of Buhl, Idaho. Her brother Clarence and Celesta Koehn; sister-in-law, Joan Koehn, step-brother, Albert and Goldie Koehn, step-sister Pauline Jantzen; 28 grandchildren and 73 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Albert, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her brothers Paul, Lincoln, Vivan, and Marvin.
We would like to thank the people at The Evergreen Place Assisted Living home in Buhl and the people at Serenity Home in Twin Falls, Idaho, for all the care and love they gave to mom!.
Mom we love you and will miss you. Thank you for loving our dad and filling his every need! Thank you for loving us children and our children!
