Sarah Gulick

May 24, 1936 — March 4, 2014

Sara "Sally" Gulick, 77, of Twin Falls, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, surrounded by family and friends.

Sally was born May 24, 1936, in Buhl/Castleford, Idaho, area to Bart and Ettie Miller. She was the youngest of five children, William (Bill), Mabel, Art and James, but made sure everyone knew she was just as big as anyone. Sally grew up knowing hard work, hard play and what life on the farm was all about. She married Stan Gulick on Oct. 23, 1955. They had their son, Joseph, in April of 1961. She thrived as a mother, friend and mentor.

Sally was a great advocate for the veteran’s hospitals, Humane Society and Democratic Party. She was one of the first female barbers in southern Idaho and cut hair for many years with her son, Joe, and many great friends. She loved to bowl, farm, garden, care for her animals and enjoy a nice long chat over a glass of iced tea. After selling her beloved farm in Castleford, she moved to Twin Falls, where she was surrounded by many beloved people who enriched her life greatly. Her quick wit, spunky attitude and ability to argue with anyone will never be forgotten. If ever visiting, you always left her home with a full stomach and a bag of goodies.

She is survived by her son, Joseph (Tony) of Palm Springs; her granddaughter, Sara Bateman (Rex) of Jerome; "adopted" granddaughters, Monique (Shawn Dutt) of Twin Falls and Erin (Tucker Murphy) of Filer; many great-grandsons and granddaughters; and her pet companions, Weezy and Taco. Sally was a grandma to many, as well as a great friend to many wonderful people. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bart and Ettie Miller; her brother, William "Bill" Miller; and sister, Mabel Bishop.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced by the family.
