Sharilynne "Shari" Underwood

Sharilynne Anne Underwood, known by friends and family as Shari, lived in Filer, Idaho for the past 15 years.

Shari was born on July 10, 1943 in Van Nuys, California. The eldest child of Virginia Ruth Meltesen and William Shelby Underwood.  She graduated in 1961 from High School.  She retired after 30 years of service from Pacific Bell telephone.  Shortly thereafter she and her brother decided to buy a catamaran and they sailed Ensenada, Mexico where they opened a very popular Mexican restaurant called the Chili Bowl.  When cruise ships docked at this port, many of the passengers stopped into the Chili Bowl for authentic Mexican food. They ran this restaurant for over five years until their mother became ill and they had to relocate back to San Diego, California.

When their mother passed away, Shari and her brother moved back to Filer, Idaho to retire.  Here they purchased a nice piece of property on Main Street and over the years they designed and developed the property to their specifications and created what they called their "dream home"

Shari was a walking encyclopedia of information.  She was very interested in her community, history, and politics.  People were always amazed at her knowledge of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and she hold her own on any of these subjects.

Traveling the U.S. by car was one of her favorite things to do.  When you travel by car, she said, you see far more by getting off the main highway and exploring small town America.

Like anyone else, she enjoyed a great joke, but rarely was able to tell one herself.  Her favorite TV show was all of the Hallmark Movies, and she would love to tell you at exactly what point in the show the characters would fall apart and in the last 15 minutes they would be back together and that was

Shari is preceded in death by both parents; and her brother, Larry Underwood.

She is survived by her sister, Karen Ruth Underwood Stoner; her nieces, Melia Stoner, Kalani Stoner-Pearson, and Mele' Stoner; and nephew, Spencer Stoner; and many cousins.

A funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 13, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church, 600 Stevens Ave., Filer, Idaho 83328. A graveside service will follow at Filer Cemetery.
