Solomon Eugene Tipton

Solomon Eugene Tipton entered this world June 20,1954 at the Magic Valley Memorial Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho.

He attended school in Filer and graduated from Filer High School. He coached 5th & 6th grade basketball while he was in high school. He also was active in football, baseball, and golf.

Sol loved hunting and fishing and did a lot of it in his later years. He loved camping and would stay in the mountains for weeks at a time.

Sol married Liz Schellenbarger right after high school. To this union a daughter, Penny was born. Sol and Liz later divorced. In 1975 he married Deanne Lister. To this union two children were born, William Boyd and Kara Ellen. During this time, Sol served in the Idaho National Guard. This marriage also ended in divorce. In 1996 Sol married Sally Morrison and adopted Sally’s niece, Chelsie. Sally passed away in 2011.

Sol is survived by his mother, Wilma Tipton, and four sisters, Deborah (Gerald) Haye, Susan (Clayton) DePew, Kelli (Tim) Shetler, and Teresa (Janard) Jones; a daughter, Kara (Alvaro) Mendoza; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.

Sol was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Tipton; his wife, Sally Tipton; daughter, Penny; son, William Tipton; grandson, Ty McCafferty; and great-granddaughter Maylee Jess.

Sol was very loved and will be greatly missed.

A graveside service for Sol will take place on Monday, November 20th at 2:00pm at the Filer Cemetery.

After the service, there will be coffee & dessert for friends and family at Filer Community Church, 318 Union Street, Filer.
