Stewart Turnbaugh , 83, of Buhl, passed away at home Friday, March 14, 2014.
Stew was born Feb. 25, 1931 in Kaolin, Nevada, which is now part of Lake Mead. He was raised in Filer, Idaho. He moved to Las Vegas where he worked in the road construction trade for 30 years. Stew retired in 1983 and started taking life easy, farming. He loved haying into the late evenings and early mornings and raising cattle. He never really knew how to completely retire. Stew married Jesse "Jean" in 1949 and she passed away in 1999. He then married Clara "Jean" or Jean #2 in 2001 who agreed to be his travel companion and cook. They spent many happy years together.
Family and friends who knew Stew could not have had a more generous and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, step-father and friend. If you were lucky enough to know Stew you would know that he loved a good cup of coffee along with great conversation.
He loved camping, gardening, traveling and being out fishing and hunting. His great stories, told so often will be missed. He had a wonderful sense of humor and smile, which were one in a million.
Through all the tears and sadness there is a sense of calmness knowing he is free and at peace.
