Vaneita Bradstreet

May 8, 1924 — December 25, 2021

TWIN FALLS

Vaneita Sylvia Fredenburg Bradstreet, 97 years young of Twin Falls, Idaho, passed from this life on December 25, 2021. Vaneita was born May 8, 1924, to parents, Horace Eugene Fredenburg and Ella Marie Wiebusch Fredenburg at home in Solway, Minnesota.  She attended Solway Elementary School and Bemidji High School.  At age 17, she moved to Detroit, Michigan, where her sister, Hazel, and brother, Loren, were living.  She and her sister worked at the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant that Chrysler opened to support the WWII war effort.

While in Michigan, she met and married Robert Wolf, who left for the military shortly after their marriage. He was a tail gunner and unfortunately was killed during WWII.  In December 1944, Vaneita married Edward Szajgecki, and they had one daughter, Yvonne Ann Szajgecki. Vaneita continued to work for the Chrysler plant sewing interior upholstery for vehicles.  She was an excellent seamstress making custom drapes and clothing alterations for clients throughout her lifetime.

In the early 1970’s, Vaneita moved to Bonita Springs, Florida.  She loved animals and birds.  Most of her life she had a Boston Bulldog; “Corky”, “Crickett”, and “Mandy”, they were a major part of her life.  Her birds included a pair of McCaws, a cockatoo, a cockatiel, and a talking parrot that would greet her every morning saying, “Good morning, beautiful!”

Vaneita had a zest for life and a fun-loving spirit! She loved having family come to visit in Florida, and she made many trips to Minnesota to visit family and come back to her roots.

In July 1998, Vaneita married Ross Bradstreet and they later divorced in 2013. Later that year, she moved to Idaho to be with her daughter. In June 2019, she moved to an assisted living at Ashley Manor in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Vaneita is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Szajgecki, of Jerome, Idaho; a sister, Lillian McNamara of Bemidji, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and five siblings.
